The JV Cowboys defeated Morehead on Friday night by a 6-4 score.  Chalreston Saylor led off the 1st inning with a double, and then courtesy runner Joseph Gonzalez was driven home on a double by Cade Allred for the early 1-0 lead.  Southwest added another run in the 3rd to go up 2-0 before Morehead tied it up in the 4th with 2 runs of their own.  The Cowboys would take the lead for good in the 4th thanks to a 2 run triple by Caleb Theriault, who would then score on a single from Adam Needles to give the Cowboys a 5-2 lead.  Morehead would 2 runs in the 5th, but could get no closer than 5-4.  Saylor led the way at the plate with a 2-4 performance while Theriault went 1-2 with 2 RBIs.  Seth Witmeyer (2-0) picked up the win on the mound with 4 innings pitched, giving up 4 runs, 3 earned on 4 hits, while striking out one.  Andy Payne came on for the 3 inning save, giving up 2 infield hits, no runs, and striking out 4 batters.  The Cowboys improve to 5-0 on the season and will face Ledford on Saturday at noon in Wallburg.
