The soccer team defeated Lake Norman 4-2 in the first round of the state playoffs, 4-2. Mike Kori opened the scoring on a cross from Jason Hawn. After Lake Norman tied the score, Kerem Guzel found the back of the net on a corner kick. Southwest led 2-1 at the half. Jack Davis open the scoring on the second half on an assist from Hayden Hmiel. Hmiel then gave the 'Boys a 4-1 lead off another assist from Jason Hawn. A late goal was conceded to Lake Norman for the final of 4-2. The team plays at Mt. Tabor on Tuesday at 7pm in the second round.
